What was old is new again

After 30 years, it was time for a new kitchen

Rudi Pfieffer from Vorarlberg, Austria is a pharmacist by trade, so he knows how important it is to have storage space, to keep items safe, and to have efficient workflows – even in a kitchen. That’s why his old kitchen was functional, but it had been in use for three decades and had slightly lost touch with the times. We’d like to show you the modern solutions that he put in his new kitchen.

Before: After 30 years of use, Rudi Pfeiffer’s kitchen needed an update.

After: Innovative solutions are concealed in beautiful cabinets.

Investment for the next 30 years

Rudi’s expectations were high. He wanted to completely revamp his kitchen and use contemporary solutions. He researched the latest kitchen trends, made some drawings, and consulted with Blum’s experts.

He visited the showroom in Dornbirn to get a closer look at the many options. He tested cabinet options and layouts was overjoyed with the result. ‘I can only recommend it to everyone,’ he says. ‘Now I’m well equipped for the next 30 years.’

Behind the fronts

Check out the clever solutions inside Rudi Pfeiffer’s new kitchen.

Sink drawer

In contrast to the old cabinet with two doors, the under sink drawer makes better use of storage space.

AMBIA-LINE

‘Nothing slides around,’ says Rudi, commenting on his beautifully organizsed drawers. Knives, forks, and spoons never make a sound – thanks to the special soft touch coating.

AVENTOS

Rudi often had to dodge cabinet doors in his old kitchen. His new wall cabinets have been equipped with AVENTOS, so he can leave them up and out of the way.

Pantry solution

The pantry is so wide and large! "This cabinet makes me happy every time I use it!"

No handles, thanks to SERVO-DRIVE

He simply loves the SERVO-DRIVE electrical motion support system. "This is fantastic and makes my new kitchen perfect right down to the last detail."

Tips from Blum experts

Every good kitchen has one important role: it needs to meet your personal requirements. "That’s why you should take plenty of time to think about your needs and wishes if you want to remodel," advises Mariam Witzemann, DYNAMIC SPACE expert at Blum. "What is your daily routine? What items do you want to keep in your kitchen? Where do you eat your meals? It’s best to write down your answers and give them to your kitchen designer."

Miriam Witzemann created three different designs for Rudi Pfeiffer’s new kitchen.

Design 1: Spacious design

This was Rudi’s favorite layout. The spacious design enforces the modern look of the kitchen and gives him and his wife plenty of space to cook together.

Design 2: Even more storage space

Everyone has different storage space needs. Depending on his cooking and shopping habits, more storage space could have been added in this design

Design 3: Eat-in kitchen

If the Pfeiffers hadn’t had a separate dining room, this design would have turned their kitchen into an eat-in kitchen with a corner bench and dining table.
